Starting this week students will be bringing home book bags each day. These bags are filled with emergent reader texts at a "just right" level for your child. Please invite your child to read his/her book(s) to you as a part of your daily routine. Even as students begin to read books on their own, it continues to be important for students to hear books read aloud by loving caretakers. Right now many of the kindergarteners' book bags contain picture books from our classroom library for parents to read to children. As your kinder begins to decode texts and read in a more conventional manner, we will begin sending home emergent reader texts and/or literacy games. Please help your child remember to return his/her book bag to school each day. Students read books from their book bags during our daily Treasured Reading time. If you have books at home that seem like a good level for your child to read, please send them in. We are always on the look out for interesting, engaging texts that are at a "just-right" level for our readers. Thank you!
