We finished our exploration of three-dimensional shapes last week. Ask your child to tell you the names of some three-dimensional shapes around your home and community. Ask him/her how many faces and vertices specific shapes have.
This week we are moving on to an exploration of even and odd numbers. We learned that an even number can be divided evenly into two equal groups. On the other hand, odd numbers can not be divided evenly into two equal groups, but instead have an odd one out. At morning check-in this morning students were asked to draw a number(s) from a box and determine if the number was even or odd. This led to some discussions of division. This week we are also beginning to explore time concepts. We will be learning to tell time to the hour and half hour on an analog clock . We will also be learning how to write time and read digital clocks. Please begin to point out clocks and help your child read the time in your daily life.
