Our First - Second Grade Classroom at the Early Learning Community
The Otter class is a community of 12 students in first and second grade, their teacher, and other ELC assistants. The Otters are part of the wider community children, teachers, and families who make up the Early Learning Community at Pacific University. Student teachers from the Pacific University Master of Arts in Teaching program are also part of the teaching team.
A description of our program elements and our teaching approaches may be found on our school website, and the Otter Days blog offers a window into how these are expressed in the day-to-day activities and experiences of the children.
Our teacher is Terra Cavolo, who holds a Master of Arts in Teaching, Early Childhood-Elementary, from Pacific University, and Oregon licensure in early childhood through elementary grades.
Student Teachers for the 2016-2017 school year are Chloe Fukuda and Kimberly Freehill. They will complete a practicum in the classroom during the fall Ms. Kimberly on Tuesdays, Ms. Chloe on Thursdays, and will join us full time for 9 weeks each during spring semester. More information about our teaching is available on the Early Learning Community website.
We welcome the family and friends of our students to visit our school and be a part of what happens here. Please contact Ms. Terra to make arrangements for spending time in our classroom.
