October 27, 2022

Good morning Miss Aja and Otter class,

It's me Flat Food Dragon, I've made it safe and sound to my destination. I arrived in Nampa Idaho yesterday around 3:00pm. I met up with my family I'll be staying with for the next couple weeks here in Idaho. Cassandra took me to school pick up to get my new friend Adalynn. We made a few stops so I could see some sites. This place is great so far!  Adalynn and I will be great adventurers for you guys! I asked Cassandra about her leaves here in Idaho, and yes they do change colors too! I'll send some pictures when we are out and about in our adventures! Can't wait to see what's up next!

Good morning Otters! Flat Food Dragon here! It's been a fun filled weekend here in Idaho. It gets pretty cold at night, but the days are still beautiful. Adalynn took me to play in some leaves, and we also got to play soccer across the street. Adalynn has three dogs, they are so much fun to play with. Their names are Ralph, Milo, and Willis (left to right). This weekend my good friend Adalynn helped make me a Halloween costume, I can't wait to show you all! Stay tuned for more exciting news and pictures!

Hello Otter class,

My friend Adalynn and I stopped by the train depot in Nampa. It's now used as a historic museum that's holds old artifacts. It was closed when we went but we took a few pictures. One front of the museum and by an old train that's stopped on the tracks. The Nampa Idaho train depot was built in 1903 and had trains traveling through this train station until 1927 when a new one was built. In 1973 the depot was entered into canyon county's historical society and in 1976 they opened it as a museum.

Good morning Otter class,

This weekend we took a trip to the state capital building here in Idaho. The capitol of Idaho is Boise. They call Boise the city of trees... cool fact Boise is a French saying that means "wooded". We walked around the capital and I learned some really fun facts about the state. Idaho is the 43rd state out of the 50 states in North America, and Idaho became a state in 1890 that is over 132 years ago! The gold George Washington riding his horse was carved out of yellow pine wood and painted with gold gilding by Charles L. Ostner he presented it to the territory of Idaho January 8th, 1869 before it became a state. The governor of Idaho is Governer Brad Little, he's up for reelection on November 8th of this year. Idaho has had 33 governors since it was admitted to the union on July 3rd, 1890. I hope you enjoy the pictures and some great facts about the state I'm staying in. Boise is beautiful.

Some fun facts about Idaho:

  • State insect: monarch butterfly

  • State amphibian: the salamander

  • State fruit: huckleberry

  • State raptor: paragon falcon

  • State bird: mountain blue bird

  • State horse: Appaloosa

  • State gem: star garnet

Good morning Otter class,

I'm having so much fun in Idaho. When we went to the state capital last weekend we also went downtown Boise. There is alley that is full of art, some hand painted others spray painted. It was super cool to see how creative people are and how they express themselves. We took some pictures to show you all. The alley is called " freak alley." It was amazing!!

Hi Otter class,

I got to do something exciting today. After we went to school pick-up to get my friend Adalynn her mom took us to the lake! Lake Lowell has over 8,000 acres of wildlife refuge land that homes over 200 avian (birds) species on record. The lake was man made in 1909 by Canyon County Agriculture, to help irrigate farm lands and now farm lands, houses and properties. Lake Lowell goes as deep as 12.2 meters which also translates into 40feet deep. This reservoir is one of the largest off-streams bodies of water in western American.

Some of the fish you can catch is blue gill, large and smallmouth bass, yellow perch, catfish and white crappie.
While we were there I laid out and got some sun, the water was too cold to get in, it was 44 degrees... burrrr.... not much warmer then the outside temperature which was 40 degrees.

I watched Adalynn throw some stones, and we walked along the lake shore. It was a beautiful evening. I can't wait for more, I have some exciting things coming for you all! I can't wait to share!
