Flat Jwit in New York

Dear Jett, Timofey, and Wren,

Thank you for sending Jwit to visit me in New York city! Flat Jwit enjoyed his time here almost as much as I did.

We got to see a lot of historic sites, tall buildings, museums, parks, and Juit even went with me to vote. Jwit was surprised by the amount of buildings, cars, and people everywhere - he could not believe that more than 8 million people live in one city. That is more than live in the state of Oregon, in fact it is almost twice as many! Another thing Jwit learned is that New York City is 3,000 miles east of Forest Grove, which is a few days of driving or a 6 hour flight. It also means that New York three hours ahead of Oregon, so the sun rises before it does in Oregon and goes down in New York first, too.

Jwit learned about New York City foods. It is famous for pizza, bagels, Hot Dogs, and having foods from most cultures available. His favorite was pizza, but he also liked New York Cheesecake for dessert.

We also saw some animals - dogs, squirrels, birds, and even turtles. Jwit loved the turtles so we took a picture of him with one. Jwit loved walking around Central Park, where we saw turtles and the best place to get some quiet in the loud City. After walking in the park, we checked out two art museums where they keep drawings, paintings, sculptures, and much more.

We went to times square by subway, which is the main way people get around in a big city. It is an underground train. Jwit got as picture with a map of where all the different trains go. He wanted to keep his ticket for the subway, a Metrocard, to show all of you how he paid to ride the train. Then we went to the New York Public Library and we even saw spiderman there!

We also took a ferry boat across the river to another one of the five neighborhoods in New York, called Brooklyn, Jwit stayed with me in Manhattan. He liked the view of Manhattan and the tall buildings across the East River, one of two rivers in New York city. Then we crossed the Brooklyn Bridge that is 100 years old to see the Financial District. We visited the World Trade Center site, one of the tallest buildings in New York.

Finally, it was time for Jwit to return home to tell you about his adventures. We went to the airport and put him on a flight home.

Thanks for sharing your Flat friend Jwit!
