Stone Soup
/ Aja AppelThe rest of our salmon eggs hatched this week! Students worked together to create a salmon mural that is hanging in our hallway. Students used tempera paint to create a natural background that includes the river, the gravel, and vegetation. Students examined our salmon eggs and alevins before creating watercolor pieces depicting these two stages of salmon development. Be sure to admire our salmon art in the hallway. We also received updates from our Flat Stanleys in Colorado, San Francisco, New York, Wyoming, Washington DC, Washington, Alaska, Nevada, Arizona, California, and Idaho this week. We've been learning more about the geography, animals, vegetation, and animals in these areas of our country. We’ve also been reading and discussing several versions of Stone Soup. This morning we cut vegetables and prepared our own soup with each child in the school contributing an ingredient. We were thrilled to gather as a whole school for songs, stories, and a feast. We sure missed this tradition the last couple of years!
