Yesterday morning we took a field trip to Rood Bridge to release our salmon in the Tualatin River. Throughout out this salmon unit students studied the salmon life cycle and migration patterns. They learned about what salmon need to survive, how to calculate temperature units, and about the river ecosystem. Perhaps mostly importantly, students learned to be good stewards of the environment and the animals in it. We loved getting to observe and care for our fish over the last few weeks. After we released our salmon, students shared letters they had written for our fish friends. We will miss caring for them in our classroom. Our field trip was a sweet way to say good bye and bon voyage to our salmon fry. We wish them well on their travels to the Pacific Ocean. A huge thank you to Mr. Mark for helping us care for the fish, for photographing our field trip, and for driving us to Rood Bridge. Thank you to Ms. Julie for driving us, as well. We are so lucky to have such a caring community that helps us learn.
