Music Making and Geology Posters

We had another fantastic music making session with Ms. McKenzie on Tuesday. We reviewed musical terminology including forte, piano, whole note, half note, quarter note, eighth note, crescendo and decrescendo. We learned how to sing the Kind song in two parts. We used hula hoops to learn a partner dance and practiced singing and clapping on the beat. This week students had the opportunity to practice their public speaking skills as they presented their geology posters to group. These presentations also gave students in the audience a chance to review different concepts that we learned throughout our unit. During our small group reading instruction students have been working on reading texts with fluency and good expression. On Thursday and Friday students had an authentic opportunity to practice  reading with good fluency as they read to their preschool buddies. In our outdoor classroom this week students explored the concept of erosion in our engineering sandbox. This week we also created paper tissue flowers to send to our classmate who is recovering from a surgery. We can’t wait for our friend to rejoin us next week! We ended our week together with a trip to the library for new reading materials. At the library we also had a chance to admire art created by our preschool buddies.
