Music Class and Rice Rock Museum
/ Aja AppelLast week we started music class with Ms. McKenzie. We loved every minute of it! We had the opportunity to play a variety of instruments, dance with scarves, learn about music notes and terminology, and practice singing together. We learned several new songs, including a class favorite called K-I-N-D. We are incredibly excited that Ms. McKenzie will continue to visit us for a whole hour each Tuesday for the next few weeks. What a fantastic learning experience for us! This week we practiced reading with great expression for our preschool buddies. We worked in partners to create science posters that describe some type of geologic concept. Students will be sharing their posters with the class later this week.
On Friday we got to visit Rice Rock Museum to learn more about rocks, gems, and geologic processes. Parent volunteers and teams of two students were able to explore the museum together. There was ample time for student questions, discussions, and reflections. When we returned to school we had a whole group conversation where students were invited to share their learning and further reflect on our field trip. A huge thank you to all the parent volunteers who made it possible for us to have an adult to student ratio of 1 to 2- simply amazing!
