Sunny days and wetland art

We took every opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather this week! We picnicked outside during snack and lunch and spent time in our cedar classroom gardens. We noticed many beautiful flowers blooming in our meadow, including lupine. This week we had a track and field session with Coach Mark. Students are improving their relay skills and learned how to throw an indoor javelin. This week we also had a music making session with Ms. McKenzie and got to perform two of our songs for families. We also learned more about the wetland habitat and reviewed the concept of layers of a wetland. Then we created watercolor representations of landscape at Fernhill. We also started work on a class wetland mural. Jane and Pierce worked together to sketch the background for the mural and the rest of the class will add paint, flora, and fauna to the mural. In writer’s workshop we launched a unit on persuasive writing and learned about the difference between facts and opinions. In anticipation of Mother’s Day on Sunday, we took time this morning to pause and think about our moms. We reflected on how thankful we are to have our moms in our lives and shared some of the things that make our moms special. This week was also teachers appreciation week. A huge thank you to all the families who poured their time, energy, and resources into creating a beautiful breakroom space for our teachers. We are loving the snacks, fancy espresso machine, beautiful decor, and organized space. It looks a million times better and we feel so appreciated every time we walk in there. THANK YOU!
