Final Music Making Session
/ Aja AppelThis week was full of bittersweet good-byes and celebrations. On Tuesday we had our final music-making session with Ms. McKenzie. We enjoyed singing our favorite songs, reviewing musical terminology, and joyfully making music together outside. We decorated a song page that contained the song lyrics to K-I-N-D to add to our memory books to remember this happy time together. On Monday we had our final track and field session of the year with Coach Mark. Thursday was also Ms. Fern’s last day volunteering during our literacy block. We are going to miss her! Students spent ample time this week pouring over the art and writing pieces that they’ve created this school year. Together students and teachers marveled over the tremendous growth. Students laughed as they saw what their penmanship and spelling was like in September. They couldn’t believe that they used to write “I lick Lagos” instead of “I like Legos”. Or that they used to write a lowercase i when talking about themselves. They were shocked that many first graders started the year writing in all capital letters. What fun to celebrate how far we’ve come! On Thursday evening we invited families in to celebrate along with us at our annual ELC Celebration of Learning. Thank you to all the moms, dads, grandparents, siblings, friends, and extended family who took the time to come celebrate our students. It means so much.
